"ELT in algeria : an analysis of the contents and the implementation of the new syllabi" is the title of this thesis whose aim is to examine the educational reform in english langauge learning through the analysis of the new syllabi and textbooks which are meant toautonomous indiduals . the construction of this autonomy is three dimentional : (1)provideknowledge; (2)socilize learnes so that they construct their identity and a world (3) equip them with competencies to help them face changing world. To achieve this threefold missin , the algerian educational reform bases its policy on constructivism as the theoretical orientation (educational philosophy . and the competency based approach which determines expected learning autcomes ( competencies).
